What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is the practice of manual procedures that deal with the joints of the body. Joints include the joint proper, where two bones come together, as well as the surrounding tissue. As a Doctor of Chiropractic I address the concerns people have with the joint motion and the supporting soft tissues (tendons, ligaments and muscles). Just as important as the things already mentioned, chiropractic is also concerned with normalizing the nervous system.
How does Chiropractic work?
Chiropractic works by normalizing the alignment of the joints and normalizing the nervous impulses responsible for an injured or involved area. It is by removing these stressors that the body can more readily take care of itself.
What conditions can a Chiropractor help?
While most people see a chiropractor for back pain, I believe that chiropractors are the joint doctors, so if you have a joint problem chances are we can help. Some conditions include low back pain, mid back pain, neck pain, headaches, shoulder pain, arm and wrist pain, hip pain, knee and ankle pain, carpal tunnel syndrome and fibromyalgia to name a few. Please go to our contact page to request information or to ask if we might be able to help you with your complaints.
Who benefits form Chiropractic treatment?
We are all inundated with stress, life, poor diet and exercise habits and whatever else you can add to the list. One of the things I really like about chiropractic adjustments is the relief and lighter sense I have after getting my adjustmentsyes, I also get adjusted. So, I think just about everyone out there is a good candidate for chiropractic adjustments or manipulations.
What do Doctors of Chiropractic do?
My job is to restore proper spinal or joint biomechanics. We do this by beginning with a case history. This gives me background information about your health, such as surgeries, accidents, onset of your current condition, and other details regarding your current state of health. After reviewing your history an examination will be completed. If x-rays are needed we will get you to a facility for imaging. After looking at the information we will decide on a course of care and a plan will be presented.
Is Chiropractic safe?
In a word, yes! While there are some risks they are very small all things considered.
Does an adjustment hurt?
Under normal circumstances, adjustments dont hurt. It is possible though for the patient to feel a sting or slight pain. I am very conscientious about the needs of the patient and strive to only give a comfortable and safe adjustment. I cant give a guarantee that it will never hurt but I do pledge to only go as far as the body will allow without causing extra pain or discomfort.
